Welcome to the gurukula experience, the “family of the teacher,” a unique combination of small-group education, experiential study, hands-on practice and daily interactions with renowned teachers. We enjoy close personal attention from our faculty, meals and walks with Alakananda Ma and our fellow students and abundant time in clinic and pharmacy. Our program fosters community and camaraderie among students, with senior students mentoring the newer arrivals. Meditation plays an important part in our learning journey, while chanting, fire ceremonies and organic gardening are available as extra- curricular opportunities.
Programs Offered
Ayurvedic Practitioner* (2-Year program)
This entry level program provides the basis for becoming an Ayurvedic Practitioner. This program is
appropriate for new students of Ayurveda.
Advanced Ayurvedic Practitioner** (4-Year program)
This program offers the highest training currently available in Ayurveda in the US. This program is
appropriate for new students of Ayurveda that are committed to the full path.
Advanced Ayurvedic Practitioner** – Post Graduate or Advanced Training (2-Year program)
This program offers post graduate training for students that have successfully completed an Ayurvedic
Practitioner program at another NAMA approved school and would like to continue their studies (this is
the last two years of our four year program).
Continuing Education, Individual Classes, and Distance Learning Credits
Many of our classes can be taken on an individual basis for continuing education credits. This is a great
way for Ayurvedic practitioners or students to add to their knowledge with some of our unique classes,
to see if Ayurveda is the right path for you, or to deepen your knowledge for personal or professional
development. Many of the classes are available by skype for distance learners.

*This program fulfills NAMA's current requirements for this title.
**This program is designed to prepare its graduates to meet NAMA's emerging requirements for the title of "Doctor of Ayurveda", which will include passing a national board exam. Alandi is one of the first schools in the United States to develop such a program. While nearing completion, currently (Feb. 2013) the requirements for this title are still being finalized at the national level; they are expected to be in place by 2016. Alandi's Gurukula Program is expecting its four year graduates to be among the first "Doctors of Ayurveda" formally qualified in the United States.
Individual state law will determine what title you can legally use, as well as any restrictions on scope of practice.
