Prema Shakti, President

Prema Shakti, Āyurvedic Doctor, E-RYT500 and LMT, is a devoted practitioner and disciple of yoga, āyurveda and massage. She guides her students to explore the union of body, mind and spirit through āyurvedic principles, asana (posture), pranayama (breath work), bodywork therapies, energy healing and meditation. As well as her role on the Alandi Ashram board, Prema has served on the board of COLORAMA (the Colorado Ayurvedic Medical Association), and has served with the Seminars in Āyurveda sub-committee through the National Āyurvedic Medical Association (NAMA).

Alakananda Ma, co-founder

Alakananda Ma is an internationally respected teacher and practitioner of Ayurveda. A graduate of St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, London University, and a NAMA professional member, she has been practicing and teaching Ayurveda since 1988. She is the founder and principal of Alandi Ayurveda Gurukula and senior practitioner at Alandi Ayurveda Clinic. Ma served for many years on board of NAMA, the National Ayurvedic Medical Association, including a term as President. She is currently a board member of the Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission. In addition to her skill and experience in Ayurveda, Ma is a beloved spiritual teacher who embodies the love and compassion of the Mother in a humble and unpretentious way.

Sadananda, co-founder

Sadananda is a musician, artist, meditation teacher and spiritual guide. During seven years of pilgrimage  in India, studying yoga, meditation, and Indian mysticism, Sadananda lived as a barefoot wandering renunciate according to the ancient spiritual tradition of India. At Alandi, Sadananda teaches yoga, meditation, devotional singing and leads fire ceremonies.

Margaret Telfer, Treasurer

Margaret Telfer is a retired research librarian and the parent of an Alandi graduate. She is a Mayo Clinic trained wellness coach and plant based chef. She serves on the board of Physicians Association for Nutrition USA and is a past chair of the boards of Graywolf Press and the Library Foundation of Hennepin County. 

Ceci Kramer

Ceci’s journey with Ayurveda and yoga started as a patient, where her interest grew to the point of becoming a student with a desire to share this knowledge with her loved ones. She was a member of  Alandi Ayurveda Gurukula’s first graduating class from the four year program holding the title of Master Ayurvedic Practitioner; and has been a professional member of NAMA for many years running. Ceci also works as an accountant, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance and accounting from the University of Colorado.

Sebastian Urrea, Secretary

Sebastian is a practicing ayurvedic doctor and vedic astrologer. He grew up in Massachusetts in a Colombian immigrant family and graduated from Tufts University in Medford, MA with a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Sociology. He has since dedicated himself to the study of the vedic sciences in order to share their wisdom and knowledge to benefit others.

Sebastian is a graduate of Alandi Ayurveda Gurukula’s Master Ayurvedic Practitioner Program, has a Bachelor of Arts in Vedic Astrology from the American Academy of Vedic Art and Science, and a YTT certification from Yoga Vidya Gurukula in Trimbakeshwar, India.

Jane Bunin, Ex officio

Jane Bunin received a PhD in 1975 in Plant Ecology and Ecosystem Management. She has been a student, patient and occasional teacher at Alandi for over 20 years and a Board member for over 15 years.  Jane has taught in the Environmental Studies Program at Naropa University since 1990. She also serves on the Coordinating Council, Land Group and Indigenous Peoples Day working groups of Right Relationship Boulder.
